Families are invited to participate in free drop-in, come-and-go art activities every Sunday afternoon from 1 – 5 pm during the month of June at the Carlsbad Museum and Art Center, 418 W. Fox St. No registration and no fee. Participants will be invited to use the Museum’s art supplies to do projects of their own choosing, but an art teacher will be available at each session. Family Sunday Art Afternoons are part of the “Focus on Creativity” Summer Art Camp. This program is made possible in part by New Mexico Arts, a division of the Office of Cultural Affairs, and the National Endowment for the Arts, and is an activity of the Carlsbad Museum and Art Center. Additional funding comes from the City of Carlsbad and the Carlsbad Museum Amigos.

June 21 and 28 Paste Paper Workshop

Teacher: Jane Harrington

Ages 10 and up – families welcome

Class size limited to 8 persons

Saturday, June 21 and Saturday, June 28, 1 – 5 pm (2 separate classes)

Students will learn color mixing and the technique of making paste paper, and then use their paste papers to make origami boxes and greeting cards.

Students will be admitted on a first-come, first-served basis, up to a maximum of 16 students per class (unless otherwise indicated). Preference will be given to students who haven’t participated in previous years and to year-round Carlsbad residents. Registration forms and $2 registration fee must be delivered to the Museum.


PLEASE BE CONSIDERATE – sign your child up only if you are certain that he or she will be able to attend on ALL class dates. Make sure your child is personally motivated to ensure that he or she gets the most benefit from the classes. Each child will be placed in his / her age-specific class. Older siblings will not be allowed to attend class with younger brothers and sisters, unless specified by the teacher. Children should be able to work independently and in a group.
